Electric SUV in Ferrari look at a budget price

In March 2024, the Chinese electronics giant and mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi unveiled its first car ever, the SU7. The electric sedan is selling well on the Chinese market and has also been able to score points on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in the ultra version.
But Xiaomi wants more – especially to sell more cars – and, as already announced, is adding an SUV to its portfolio. In China, the first data and images of the YU7 electric SUV have been published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Xiaomi itself added the first official images immediately after the official leak.

YU7 in Ferrari look
The Xiaomi YU7 is the sister model to the SU7 sedan. The SUV has a length of just under five meters, is two meters wide and 1.60 meters high. The wheelbase is given as three meters. The lines of the four-door YU7 are strongly reminiscent of the Ferrari Purosangue, but also clearly adopt elements of the SU7. In terms of overall form, it is more of an SUV coupé than a classic SUV with its strongly sloping roofline. The pointed nose is flanked by sleek McLaren-style LED lights. In the basement, a large radiator mouth opens. The strong indentations on the flanks, which create space for large ventilation gills behind the front wheel arches, have an extremely dynamic effect. The door handles are flush with the doors. At the rear, a spoiler extends the roofline over the flat rear window. The strongly shaped rear side panels open into a rump at the rear. Underneath, a C-shaped circumferential light strip sets the scene for the back of the YU7. The lower end is formed by large diffuser elements.
There are no glimpses of the interior yet. But here, too, the SU7 with its screen landscape is likely to be the godfather.
All-wheel drive with up to 690 hp
The YU7 is powered by two electric motors – one per axle. The front motor has an output of 220 kW, while a 288 kW electric motor pushes the rear axle. The total output is given as 508 kW – in the old currency, this corresponds to around 690 hp. This should accelerate the all-wheel-drive vehicle, which weighs around 2.4 tonnes, to up to 253 km/h. Its engines draw energy from an NMC battery from CATL. A capacity has not yet been named. For this purpose, the MIIT has published the first range data according to the CLTC cycle. 750, 760 and 670 kilometers are mentioned. This suggests that the YU7 will be offered in three versions with additional drive and battery options.
The Xiaomi YU7 is scheduled to celebrate its official premiere in June 2025. Chinese market observers expect the equivalent of around 33,000 euros as a starting price. This puts the YU7 directly against the Tesla Model Y in China. The Xiaomi YU7 is built parallel to the SU7 at the Xiaomi plant in Beijing.
